* This song is about the conflict between worldly things and spiritual health, between desires of the flesh and spiritual ecstasy, it’s about temptation… Who hasn’t been tempted and who hasn’t succumbed at some time? You always hear the same old story : ´The devil made me do it´, ´It looked so good, I had to have it´....when did all this begin ?....well, it began in the beginning....in a place called the Garden of Eden.... the Garden of Eden was originally believed to have been located in Mesopotamia or Southern Babylonia....but the latest theological studies have found that its actual location was ten miles south of Jersey City off the New Jersey Turnpike.... that’s why they call it the Garden State.....in the Garden of Eden, understand, you had none of the accoutrements of modern living....you had no bed, there wasn’t no houses, you couldn’t go out on to the highway and get a hamburger if you wanted one, didn’t have no mama and no papa, there was no sin, there was no sex, man lived in a state of innocence....now, when it comes to no sex, I prefer the state of guilt that I live in.... I decided I had to understand the mysteries, I had to understand where the root of this problem was so I took a spiritual journey to the location of the Garden of Eden, it’s now occupied by Happy Dan’s Celebrity Used Car Lot....I walked in, the man said ´Son, you need a yellow convertible, it’s a four-door DeVille, it’s got a Continental spare and wide chrome wheels, need a tape deck, automatic heat, with a full fold-out bed in your backseat, a television and a phone so you can speak to your baby when you’re driving all alone’...I said ‘Thank you, Sir, but what I really wanna know about is, I wanna know about the roots of temptation, where did it begin.... and he said ´Well, son, that’s easy.... you see, in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth and on the First Day, He separated the light from the darkness and he called the light ´the day´ and he called the darkness ´the night´....on the Second Day, He grew hungry so He created the cheeseburger and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´ ....on the Third Day, He grew hot so He created air-conditioning and the Lord sat and back and said ´This is good´....on the Fourth Day, He grew bored so He created rock´n´roll and the Lord sat back and said ´This is good´, on the Fifth Day, unlike my competition, Jimmy Lee Swaggert or Jerry Falwell will tell you, on the Fifth Day....He wanted to take his baby for a drive....and so He created the pink Cadillac....and the Lord sat back and said ´This is wild´ (22-10-1984, Oakland, CA)

* Esta es una canción sobre el conflicto entre las cosas mundanas y la salud espiritual, entre los deseos de la carne y el éxtasis espiritual, es sobre tentaciones… ¿Quién no ha sido tentado y no ha sucumbido alguna vez? Siempre oímos la misma historia : ´El Demonio me obligó’, ´Era tan bella, tenía que ser mía´....¿ Cuándo comenzó todo esto? ....bien, comenzó con la creación....en un lugar llamado Jardín del Edén.... El Jardín del Edén estaba originalmente localizado en Mesopotamia o al sur de Babilonia....pero los últimos estudios tecnológicos han descubierto que la localización exacta era a diez millas al sur de Jersey City saliendo por la New Jersey Turnpike.... por eso lo llaman el Estado Jardín.....en el Jardín del Edén, entended, no tenías ninguna de las comodidades de la vida moderna....no había cama, no había casas, no podías salir a la autopista y comprar una hamburguesa si te apetecía, no tenías ni mamá ni papá, no había pecado, no había sexo, el hombre vivía en un estado de inocencia....sin embargo, en cuanto a lo del sexo, prefiero vivir en un estado de culpa.... decidí que debía comprender los misterios, debía comprender de dónde procedían las raíces del problema así que hice un viaje espiritual a la localización del Jardín del Edén, actualmente ocupado por el Happpy Dan’s Celebrity Used Car Lot....entré, y el hombre dijo ´Hijo, necesitas un descapotable amarillo, un Neville de cuatro puertas, con neumáticos Continental cromados, radiocasete, calefacción, con una cama plegable en el asiento trasero, televisión y teléfono para poder avisar a tu chica de que llegas a casa’...Dije ‘Gracias, Señor, pero lo que realmente me interesa, lo que quiero descubrir, son las raíces de la tentación, donde comenzó.... y dijo ´Bueno, hijo, eso es fácil.... mira, al principio, Dios creó los cielos y la tierra y el Primer Día, Él separó la luz de la oscuridad y llamó a la luz ´el día´ y a la oscuridad ´la noche´....el Segundo Día, Él estaba hambriento así que creó la hamburguesa con queso y el Señor se sentó y dijo ´Esto es bueno´ ....el Tercer Día, Él tenía calor así que creó el aire acondicionado y el Señor se sentó y dijo ´Esto es bueno´....el Cuarto Día, Él se aburrió así que creó el rock´n´roll y el Señor se sentó y dijo ´Esto es bueno´.... el Quinto Día, a diferencia de lo que te dirán los de la competencia, Jimmy Lee Swaggert o Jerry Falwell, el Quinto Día....Él quiso llevar a su chica a dar una vuelta....así que creó el Cadillac Rosa.... y el Señor se sentó y dijo ´Esto es salvaje´....
