GLORY DAYS

* Man, I gotta rest for a minute, you know, I can’t keep up this hectic pace any more, oh, no, we did a song before for the young folks, gonna do this one now for the old folks out there. Is anybody my age out there tonight, I just turned 36.  Anybody older than that out there? Alright, we’ve got some, good, this is a song about Father Time, about how like you’re out in a bar on Friday night and there’s always somebody who comes up to you, tries to tell you like ´Oh, remember me from high school ?´ and ´what a great time we had´ and how great high school was and those good old memories and....but what I remember is like I hated high school....I mean I couldn’t stand no high school. I mean when this time of year comes around I’m still glad that I don’t have to go back to high school, you ain´t gonna miss it, I promise you. In high school I was only interested in two things....one was the guitar and the other one was.....yeah, that one, that one, that one....now, the guitar is the one I became proficient at....now, the other one....that’s why the shows are so long ´cause the other thing happens so fast.....but that’s alright ´cause I’m married, I’m getting a lot of practice and stuff now....oh yeah, it’s good for the soul, anyway....here’s a song about how it all, in the end ain´t nothing but glory days (30-09-1985, Los Angeles, CA)

GLORY DAYS

I had a friend was a big baseball player
Back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside
Sat down had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about was

Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well there's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
And have a few drinks
After she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times
She says when she feels like crying
She starts laughing thinking about

Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Now I think I'm going down to the well tonight
And I'm going to drink till I get my fill
And I hope when I get old
I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of
Well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister
But boring stories of

Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Y tomamos unas copas
