STOLEN CAR

* During the time we were making  the last record, a real close friend of mine got married and we, me and the whole band traveled out to California for the wedding and we we were sitting in the temple and the rabbi got up and he started talking about how ´long as you’re alone in the world that all the things that you dream about and all your dreams, they just stay fantasies....it’s like sitting in a room or something, it’s like writing a song, a song ain´t no good till somebody gets to hear it, it doesn’t matter for nothing till somebody hears it and it’s like the same with people like....until you get out there.....like meeting somebody or.... it’s the first step to making the things that you dream, the first step to making them real, making´em a part of the real world, the real life....some people make that connection and some people don’t....and when you don’t, it’s like you end up like a ghost, it’s like you don’t have....you just end up like a ghost walking around, it’s like nobody sees you or....nobody can feel you, and this song, this is a ghost story…

STOLEN CAR

I met a little girl
And I settled down
In a little house out
On the edge of town
We got married
And swore we'd never part
Then little by little
We drifted from each other's heart

At first I thought
It was just restlessness
That would fade as time went by
And our love grew deep

In the end it was
Something more I guess
That tore us apart
And made us weep

And I'm driving a stolen car
Down on Eldridge Avenue
Each night I wait to get caught
But I never do

She asked if I remembered
The letters I wrote
When our love was
Young and bold
She said last night
She read those letters
And they made her feel
One hundred years old

And I'm driving a stolen car
On a pitch black night
And I'm telling myself
I'm gonna be alright
But I ride by night
And I travel in fear
That in this darkness
I will disappear

COCHE ROBADO

Conocí a una chica
Y nos establecimos
En una pequeña casa
A las afueras de la ciudad
Nos casamos
Y juramos nunca separarnos
Después, poco a poco
Pusimos distancia en nuestros corazones

Al principio pensé
Que era sólo inquietud
Que desaparecería con el tiempo
Y profundizara nuestro amor

Al final resultó
Ser algo más, supongo
Que nos desgarró
Y nos hizo llorar

Y conduzco un coche robado
Bajando Eldridge Avenue
Cada noche espero ser atrapado
Pero nunca lo consigo

Me preguntó si recordaba
Las cartas que escribí
Cuando nuestro amor era
Joven y atrevido
Dijo que anoche
Leyó aquellas cartas
Y que la hicieron sentir
De cien años de edad

Y conduzco un coche robado
Una negra noche tenebrosa
Y trato de convencerme
De que estaré bien
Pero conduzco de noche
Y viajo temiendo
Que en estas tinieblas
Desapareceré
