PEOPLE
HAVE THE POWER
I was dreaming in my dreaming
Of an aspect bright and fair
And my sleeping it was broken
But my dream it lingered near
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
That the people have the power
To redeem the work of fools
Upon the meek the graces shower
It's decreed the people rule
The people have the power
The people have the power
The people have the power
The people have the power
Vengeful aspects became suspect
And bending low as if to hear
And the armies ceased advancing
Because the people had their ear
And the shepherds and the soldiers
Lay beneath the stars
Exchanging visions
And laying arms
To waste in the dust
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
CHORUS
Where there were deserts
I saw fountains
Like cream the waters rise
And we strolled there together
With none to laugh or criticize
And the leopard
And the lamb
Lay together truly bound
I was hoping in my hoping
To recall what I had found
I was dreaming in my dreaming
God knows a purer view
As I surrender to my sleeping
I commit my dream to you
CHORUS
The power to dream, to rule
To wrestle the world from fools
It's decreed the people rule
It's decreed the people rule
Listen
I believe everything we dream
Can come to pass through our union
We can turn the world around
We can turn the earth's revolution
We have the power
People have the power...
Of an aspect bright and fair
And my sleeping it was broken
But my dream it lingered near
In the form of shining valleys
Where the pure air recognized
And my senses newly opened
I awakened to the cry
That the people have the power
To redeem the work of fools

EL PUEBLO
TIENE EL PODER
Estaba fantaseando en mi sueño
De aspecto brillante y justo
Cuando mi ilusión fue interrumpida
Pero mi sueño perduró vivo
En forma de valles luminosos
Donde el aire puro resurgía
Y mis sentidos despertaban
Me levanté al grito
De que el pueblo tiene el poder
De redimir el trabajo de idiotas
Ante el dócil baño de las gracias
Se decretó la ley del pueblo
El pueblo tiene el poder
El pueblo tiene el poder
El pueblo tiene el poder
El pueblo tiene el poder
Vengativos aspectos se volvieron sospechosos
Y se cambiaron para ser oídos
Y los ejércitos detuvieron su avance
Porque el pueblo se hizo sentir
Y los pastores y los soldados
Durmieron bajo las estrellas
Compartiendo visiones
Y deponiendo armas
Para olvidarlas en el polvo
En forma de valles luminosos
Donde el aire puro resurgió
Y mis sentidos despertaron
Me levanté al grito
CORO
Donde había desiertos
Encontré fuentes
Como crema, el agua se alzó
Y cruzamos por allí unidos
Sin nadie que burlar o criticar
Y el leopardo
Y el cordero
Siguieron unidos su destino
Estaba aferrado a mi esperanza
De recordar lo que descubrí
Estaba fantaseando en mi sueño
Sabe Dios, de visión pura
Mientras sucumbía a mi fantasía
Te encomendé mi sueño a ti
CORO
El poder de soñar, de gobernar
De limpiar el mundo de idiotas
Se decretó la ley del pueblo
Se decretó la ley del pueblo
Escucha
Creo que todo lo que soñamos
Puede llegar a ocurrir si nos unimos
Podemos cambiar el mundo
Podemos comenzar la revolución
Tenemos el poder
El pueblo tiene el poder...
De aspecto brillante y justo

* Escrita
conciertos: John Mellencamp, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Bonnie
Raitt, Jackson Browne, Keb' Mo', REM, James Taylor, Dixie Chicks, Jurassic 5,
Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, y John Fogerty. Finalmente, John Kerry perdió
aquellas elecciones, de nuevo ante George Bush.
