* This is a song that kind of was the genesis of our whole little project here, about seven years ago when I was asked to do a song for a Pete Seeger tribute record and I met most of these fellows playing in the field down on my farm, we had a little fiesta and it’s sort of a circle, three circles of musicians that´ve been together for a long time, I got my lovely wife, Miss Patti and Lisa and Soozie played on the streets of New York when they were just little girls, and of course, we have the horn section, New Jersey-bred, inspired by New Orleans, they played with Southside Johnny and with our band along the way and then there was the group of musicians that came down and played in New York, played a lot of great roots music and of course my cousin Frankie, whose dad taught me my first chords on the guitar, he’s playing with us tonight, the lovely Cindy Mizelle and Curtis King, the fabulous Marc Anthony Thompson....from a great band, Chocolate Genius, get your Chocolate Genius-records, please; he’s a hell of a songwriter and a singer and we’ll introduce everybody later but it takes too damn long but this is the song that started, I listened to this song, it’s such a great song, everybody’s known this, it’s spoken for so many people and so many hard times for so long and it’s a lovely prayer and we send this prayer out to you tonight.... * Esta es una canción que representa la génesis del proyecto que tenemos aquí, hace unos siete años, cuando me pidieron una canción para un disco de tributo a Pete Seeger conocí a muchos de estos tipos tocando en el jardín de mi granja, montamos una pequeña fiesta y representa un círculo, tres círculos de músicos que han estado juntos durante mucho tiempo, tenemos a mi encantadora esposa, Miss Patti y Lisa y Soozie que tocaban en las calles de Nueva York cuando eran sólo unas niñas, y por supuesto, la sección de viento, de la raza de Nueva Jersey, inspirada por Nueva Orleans, tocaron con Southside Johnny y con nuestra banda por el camino y después había un grupo de músicos que vinieron y tocaron en Nueva York, tocaron un montón de música de raíces y por supuesto, mi primo Frankie, cuyo padre me enseñó mi primer acorde con la guitarra, está tocando con nosotros esta noche, la preciosa Cindy Mizelle y Curtis King, el fabuloso Marc Anthony Thompson....de una gran banda, Chocolate Genius, compraros los discos de Chocolate Genius, por favor; es un fantástico cantautor, y más tarde presentaremos a todos, pero esta es la canción que lo comenzó, al escucharla, es una gran canción, todo el mundo la conoce, nombrada por mucha gente y durante mucho tiempo en momentos difíciles y es una hermosa oración que os enviamos esta noche..
